“i was her first doula client. She was the absolute best person to have by my side, through my pregnancy, birth, and post partum. She was there for support, to chat things through, point me in the direction of unbiased evidence for a particular birth choice I was considering. She organised a ‘Mothers Blessing’, which was just so beautiful it made me cry more than once - I felt so cherished and supported by her and my friends. She arranged informal meetings with both me and my husband, so she could support us both equally and address any concerns we might have or encounter, especially given our first traumatic birth. She arranged for her partner to chat to mine, to share experiences / hopes / concerns. She came to hospital when I had to go in unexpectedly, and so wasn’t in the headspace to deal with it, and she kept me strong. She kept my birth space, so I had zero to worry about. She was there, but not in my face. She just seemed to know when to talk, or do something, and when not to. Incredible really. She just made me feel like I could do anything. She helped me with my afterbirth, with tidying me and the mess up. She was respectful and I certainly didn’t feel uncomfortable about the mess I was in, infront of her. She cooked me healthy and nourishing foods so I didn’t need to worry about anything post partum. She came to my aid when I had to go to hospital a few days later, and felt I needed her support. In the end, she made me feel so empowered and strong, I chose to freebirth (no coercion from her either way), and it was absolutely the best thing I’ve ever done. She supported all my choices, and helped point out things I hadn’t perhaps considered. She gave my the confidence to trust my body and my instincts and has opened my mind in ways I’d never considered possible. This birth, thanks to Amy, has been the most healing, empowering, beautiful thing I have ever experienced. I feel more confident and in tune with my body and my instincts than ever. I am so grateful she was my doula, and would, without a moments hesitation recommend her, and want her at any further births we might have.”
